Let them Feel Loved – Hug a US soldier with A Bear Today

Just recently, the soldiers in Iraq received lots of bears from United States veterans and military support groups and ordinary American citizens through the “Bear Hug a U.S. Soldier”. Everyone had a great response when the officials handed the bear to the soldiers.
Taking a few lines from their site, the “Bear Hug a U.S. Soldier” is a program especially created “to HONOR soldiers in harm’s way in Iraq and Afghanistan, and to HONOR soldiers that are in Veteran’s Hospitals across the United States.” For just $1, everyone can now show their support and care for the bravest heroes of our time.
The time spent of soldiers in hot and dangerous desert of Afghanistan and Iraq is no joke. Without uttering a single word, I feel every single day that they are away from their loved ones adds to their longing – to sleep soundly, be with their family and be able to live a normal and peaceful life. And every battle that they are into, without having a second thought of stepping backward adds more self confidence towards their aim to provide us a happy and peaceful world!
I’ve never been to Iraq or anywhere in the Middle East and I probably won’t go anytime. Seeing the devastating news of everyday casualties on both camps moves my feet and makes my heart quiver. Sometimes I feel that the war will not end. It was in history and the history is just repeating itself.
Despite of my uncertainties and very ideal views, I feel that I know the truth inside me. My fellow Americans are there to fight for other’s people sake and safety. I can see clearly how generous the government of America is to have their people live a life of every day war.
Okay, I’ll stop making some political statement as “Bear Hug a U.S. Soldier” says in their slogan! The war isn’t over yet and the soldiers are still in the midst of dark and uncontrollable noise of guns and grenades. I’d love to be with them and feel their uncomfortable situation but I’m not as brave as they are and I know that just like what they’re doing to protect the innocent people in the desert, they won’t also allow a single American to go and risk her life there.
I never run out of things to say - bad and good, and I guess I never will. But so much for the talking… All I want now is for them to feel loved and cared for. Just like their families, I would also like them know that I’m so proud of their accomplishments, bravery and unconditional commitment for their oath to the country. I feel that they need support. Let’s all give them a hug and pray for their safety to keep them going.
