Farewell, Ray Evans

Oscar award winning songwriter Ray Evans (born February 4, 1915) passed away February 15 late Thursday due to a heart failure. He was 92 years old, said Frederick Nicholas, Evan’s longtime lawyer friend.
He was known with his partnership with Jay Livingston producing enduring standards such as Mona Lisa, Bonanza, Silver Bells and many more. Often called by many as one of the last great songwriters the Evans-Livingston duo earned seven Academy Award nominations and won three of them enumerated below:
- 1948 for Buttons and bows in the film Paleface
- 1950 for Mona Lisa in the movie Captain Carey
- 1956 for Whatever Will Be from the movie the Man Who Knew Too Much
As his parting words, Evans said, “I had lived a great life and everything now is gravy. I take it day by day”.
